UPDATED By WeatherBug's James Stanley | The Rockies, Northwest, and the Lone Star State arcing through the East Coast will endure yet another round of downpours and fresh summertime thunderstorms today. The only places to escape Mother Nature's wrath are the Southwest and Great Lakes, where mid-June sunshine will be beaming down.

A pair of low pressure systems will be at the helm of producing fresh thunderstorms along the spine of the Rocky Front Range today. One area will be across northwestern Montana, and the other will be a bit further south from Colorado into New Mexico and western Texas. Here, thunderstorms will pack large hail, damaging wind gusts, and even a brief tornado.
Despite the afternoon thunderstorms, the mercury will still remain toasty, climbing into the 80s and 90s from Montana to Texas; even a few triple digits will pop-up across Texas' Rio Grande Valley today.
Meanwhile, a cold front will ease southward from the Lower Great Lakes and Maine toward the much warmer Gulf. In turn, widespread downpours and thunderstorms will roam the Deep South to southern New England. A few thunderstorms could contain damaging winds and large hail. The Ohio and Tennessee valleys will warm to the lower 80s, while south and east of the Appalachians reach the low to middle 90s.
In the meantime, the central Great Basin, California, the Southwest, and the Upper Midwest will delight in a partly to mostly sunny day. While most of California and the Upper Midwest can look forward to mild, 70-degree-weather, much of the Intermountain West and southward will feel their typical 90 and 100-degree heat today.
