By WeatherBug Meteorologist, Seth Carrier | Unsettled weather will likely alter a few outdoor plans across the Eastern U.S. to finish out the weekend, while the far Northern Plains endure strong thunderstorms and hot temperatures. More showers and storms will continue to march across the Rockies and Great Basin.
WeatherBug Meteorologist Gretchen Mishek has the latest in her exclusive WeatherBug National Outlook.
Heat and humidity will trigger a round of unsettled weather from the Gulf Coast all the way to New England. These storms will threaten to put a damper on any outdoor plans. Temperatures will warm into the 80s across the Northeast with 90s for much of the South.
Low pressure swinging through the Dakotas will try to kick off some strong to severe thunderstorms near the Canadian border on Sunday. Cities such as Bismarck and Minot, N.D., will be at risk for dangerous storms capable of producing large hail and damaging wind gusts. A slice of high pressure will keep the Central Plains sunny but hot, with temperatures approaching the century mark. High humidity will make it even more uncomfortable.
More showers and thunderstorms will again take up residence along the Rockies and Great Basin as monsoon moisture streams out of the East Pacific. Temperatures will mainly stay in the 80s in the Rockies and Northwest, with 90s and 100s on tap for the Southwest. The West Coast will enjoy mostly sunny weather will cooler temperatures in the 70s.
