UPDATED By WeatherBug Meteorologist, John Bateman | An encore performance of flooding downpours and severe thunderstorms will close out the weekend on a stormy note from the western Great Lakes all the way south to the Mexican border in Texas.

Just like many times this spring, rough storms will target a wide swath of the Nation`s Heartland. Large hail and high winds could impact cities such as Milwaukee, Chicago, St. Louis, Oklahoma City, Dallas, and San Antonio, Texas.
Outside mountain snow and valley rain sliding out of the northern Rockies and Montana Plains today, much of the rest of the U.S. will enjoy a sunshine-filled conclusion to the weekend. The West Coast, Great Basin, and The Northeast will all see plentiful sunshine with New England seeing the coolest temperatures, with highs in the 50s and 60s there.
With the exception of the mountain areas, the West should see highs ranging from around 60 degrees up into the middle 70s. In sharp contrast, May sunshine will boost the mercury into the 80s and 90s from the Desert Southwest, all the way through Texas and into the Southeast today.
